Observed on  April 30  Ayushman Bharat Diwas  celebrates India’s flagship Ayushman Bharat Programme , which aims to make  quality healthcare accessible and affordable  for all citizens. The day highlights the importance of building a  healthy, inclusive, and equitable society , ensuring that no one is left behind in receiving medical care.


History Behind the Day

The  Ayushman Bharat Yojana   was launched by the Government of India in 2018  under the  Ministry of Health and Family Welfare . April 30 was later designated as  Ayushman Bharat Diwas  to commemorate this transformative step toward  universal health coverage  and to honor the mission’s progress in providing financial protection to millions of families.

  1.  The scheme provides  health insurance coverage up to ₹5 lakh per family per year  for secondary and tertiary care.
